Saint-Martin/Sint-Maarten is called " friendly island " for his nearness with Miami and the Big Antilles, but also for the 80 nations which mix on this island of 53 km2 and French side 34 km2 Dutch side, both respective capitals of which are Marigot and Philipsburg. The first inhabitants, Arawaks called it " Svalugia " (ground of salt); the perspectives of wealth that the salt to exploitation made suspected made tear to pieces four nations (England, Spain, Holland, France), on year 1648 an agreement among the Dutch and the Frenchmen shared the island in two parts(parties) and terminated the conflict.
