St. Maarten Carnival 2008 April 17th – May 3rd The St. Maarten Carnival is a virtual delight for the senses. Vividly colored feathers and sequined costumes, rhythmic music permeating throughout the island and numerous vendors offering delicious Caribbean fare the way it was intended are all part of the incredible festivities. Preparations take place all year—the Carnival is just one of many events and things to do in St. Martin, but should not be missed!
We have two carnivals on the island each year, the one on the French side takes place around Lent, while the other, the larger of the two, is celebrated on the Dutch side over a period of 17 days and nights, with its main parade scheduled to coincide with the birthday of Her Majesty the Queen of the Netherlands, Beatrix.
